Dr. Niraj Mehta is a UCLA trained radiation oncologist, professional choreographer, founder of Making Moves Universal (https://nirajmehtamd.com/mmu/) an international program / movement intended to combine the spirit of mindful movement and music to improve life situations for those with chronic illness - mental, emotional, spiritual and psychosocial -- creating any aura of love, belonging, and purpose. Here we discuss what got Dr. Mehta into movement?  -How did hediscover it or did movement find him? Are we all movement? Is it in within us? -What is movement for you?  -What are the benefits of movement? -We discuss the distinction of dance and movement.  -And how can anyone incorporate in their daily life.  For the second half, he leads us in movement, so get comfortable.

Plus, book suggestions such as "Joy of Movement" by Kelly McGonigal and "Molecules of Emotion" by Candace Pert.

Dr. Disha Philip is a Board Certified Cardiologist, Chopra Center Certified Primordial Sound Meditation Teacher and has a Heart Math Certification in Stress, Anxiety and Emotional Management. She is the founder of the Path to Meditation Mastery and the Meditation for Female Physicians Facebook group. 

She shares with us what meditation is and is not, how she started her practice in meditation, and the personal and ripple effects of meditation in our own health as well as for others. We also discuss the effects stress has on our body and health. 

We discuss the 4 soul questions: "Who am I? What do I want in life? What is my purpose and how I can serve others and myself?  What am I grateful for?" 

We then discuss what our true self really is. 

We end with a short meditation.

Dr. Tamara Beckford shared with us her journey to start her UR Caring Docs Podcast and Society which focuses on self-care and wellness. She shared her insight and top tips, tools and habits to get us on a path to take better care for ourselves as physicians. 

Self-care is essential care.  Gems from the podcast: Gratitude is a top method of self-care and find out her other top ones.

 Also Dr. Beckford stated "I enter into my day, I don't have the day enter into me." 

Start the day with gratitude and a positive, growth mindset. 


Dr. Aaron Grotas, Urologist, founder of hellobettersleep.com. He discusses how professional athletes prioritize sleep for performance and the effects of lack of sleep in our cognition and memory. We also discuss how much sleep we need, how we can improve the quality and quantity of it, and how can CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Training) can help.   We talk about sleep hygiene, effects of alcohol, caffeine and light in the quality of our sleep.

 Dr. Diana Mercado gives tips, tools and systems on how to identify areas where you are not as efficient and find creative ways to shave off time from charting. She also addresses the best ways to become efficient when tackling the back log of charts that need to be closed. Identify your "why" are you doing things a certain way, how can you improve your systems, and how you can use help from your team members, scribe or a dictation system to maximize time and efficiency.  

Dr. Liz Rook, Rheumatologist 12/15/21

 Dr. Liz Rook, a Colorado Rheumatologist talks about ways to explore the causes of stress, understanding our thoughts, what we feel in our body and techniques that can help to allow, process and manage it.  She discusses how stress manifests in physical pain or flares especially in patients with autoimmune diseases in her practice. She discusses ways she has helped her patients and others to manage stress.  

Dr.Brad Jacobson ER Physician 11/9/21

Have you become angry, hypervigilant and thinking everyone else was is the one with a problem? Dr. Jacobson learned techniques, meditation, and created an accountability system with a therapist to be able to be consistent on techniques he learned and implemented in his daily life.  

He shares books that helped him such as "Buddha's Brain" by Rick Hanson, "Meditation for Beginners" by Jack Kornfield, and "Wherever You Go There You Are" by John Kabat-Zinn. He has also used APPS like Headspace and Calm as well as You Tube Channels such as "Great Meditation" for short, easy to follow meditations.  Dr. Jacobson is a wonderful person to speak to and just listening to him you will feel calmer and more relaxed. 

Dr. Marty Koyle, Urologist 10/12/21

An incredible story, journey in an accomplished career in which so many have been positively affected by Dr. Koyle. In this webinar we will explore burnout, second victim syndrome and self-compassion. Understanding we are all human and we all struggle with doubt, shame, insecurities because we are human.
